"From nowhere in a little village in the south of Styria,
word of this young artist has spread via Myspace at stunning speed - first there was the Shitkatapult release, which was followed by healthy airplay both in Austria and abroad, euphoric press reviews and club and theatre gigs. Her first EP has just been released on Couch Records / [PIAS] Recordings, which is certain to please the growing number of fans whove been waiting to hear more from her. At present she´s working on her fully-fledged debut album. The first song of the EP, The Sun, a melancholic epic - has a simple, monotonous piano theme which becomes more and more insistent, with the voice barely finding a foothold. The song seems to finely balance on a tightrope, downbeat but extremely tense. Dark, electronic sounds and noises kick in, unsettling the song, capturing it with their inherent rhythms until it is released from their grip and dies away into another piano theme. The second self-penned composition on the EP, X-Ray Heartland, is entirely harmonies of an acoustically recorded pipe organ flash up, only to be entangled again within the electronics, caught up in IDM beats. Fennesz´s remix of X-Ray Heartland melts SOAP&SKIN`s qualities with his own into a perfect piece of ambient music."
