History: Armada Music was created back in 2003 by Armin Van Buuren, Maykel Piron and David Lewis. Take the first two letters from each of their first names and you get Armada, not a well-known fact, but an important one nevertheless.
Over the last five years the Amsterdam-based label has worked with and managed some of the biggest names in dance music, from Markus Schulz and Stonebridge, Nick K, DJ Remy and M.I.K.E. to DJ Shah, Max Graham, Mischa Daniels, Simon & Shaker and of course Armin himself. Working together with the Armada team, these artists and their individual labels – Coldharbour Recordings, Pilot 6, Electronic Elements, Amind and A State Of Trance are just a selection of the 21 imprints now residing under one umbrella. Together publishing over 1500 releases to the worldwide music market.
It’s not just about the music! Armada has successfully entered areas of management and events. Its Ibiza parties at super club Amnesia are in its fifth year and whether house, techno, trance or anything in between – people come in their thousands.
Ultimately Managing Director and co-owner Maykel Prion puts it best: “It’s mainly important to be able to release high quality dance music. That basically means we should be able to release every genre of track no matter if it’s trance or house; if we love it, the we have the opportunity to release it.”
Armada Music celebrates its 5th year this year and already looking forward to the next 5. |
